Canadian Visitor Tax Refund

After you visit our beautiful country don’t forget to get some of your money back! As an international tourist or non- resident, you may be eligible for a tax refund on the GST/HST you paid on hotel accommodations, tour packages or merchandise you bought to take back home.

You must spend a minimum of $200 Canadian on goods and/or accommodations to be eligible for a tax refund.

 

 

bulletNon-residents or visitors who wish to claim a refund of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and/or the Harmonized Sales Tax must provide proof of purchase (receipts) that they exported their goods from Canada.
bulletWithout a valid receipt you will not be able to claim a refund
bulletPlease note that Credit card slips are not considered valid proof of purchase. You must have the cash register receipt.
bulletYou have one year from date of purchase to file your claim
bulletAll refund checks will be made in Canadian funds with the exception of refund checks made out to visitors from the United States. Checks made out to citizens from the United States will be made in American funds.
bulletYou may not claim any purchases made in Duty Free shops.
bulletIf you are a foreigner who is currently residing at a Canadian address, you may not claim any tax refunds.

Copy the following address: CTR- Canadian Tax Refund, PO Box 42090, Vancouver. BC. V6P 6S6. While travelling, keep all eligible receipts and upon your return home, send your receipts and completed application signed and dated.
